On Sunday Sept 27th, 2020, I attended the 22nd Annual Police & Peace Officers’ Memorial in Calgary, Alberta.

In honour of the 20th anniversary of John’s death on Sept 29th, I was the family representative this year and laid a wreath on behalf of families who have lost a police or peace officer in the line of duty.

I was very grateful to be interviewed by the media at this event . I was asked about the importance of the annual memorial service, the police today, John, the 20th anniversary of his death, the efforts of the John Petropoulos Memorial Fund, workplace safety & the Fund’s latest “Casket” PSA.

  1. You have done such amazing work in John’s memory, Maryanne! The John Petropoulos Memorial Fund turned your tragedy in losing John into a “life saver” for other human beings. You are remarkable! My best wishes to you:)

    Stay safe and well!

  2. Hi Linda! Thank you so much for your kind words about the workplace safety educational efforts of the JPMF. I still remember vividly delivering a presentation to your grade 11 class…that was one of my all-time favourite presentations. Your students were THE best audience ever! And the chocolate chip cookies you baked for me were pretty darn good, too 🙂

Big hugs to you & your family…take care,
    Maryanne
