QR77 Radio Interview with Maryanne Pope
On January 19th, 2015, Maryanne Pope, CEO of Pink Gazelle Productions and Board Chair of the John Petropoulos Memorial Fund, was interviewed on the Calgary, Alberta radio station QR77 several days after the shooting of RCMP Cst David Wynn of St Albert, Alberta.
Maryanne is the widow of a Calgary police officer, Cst John Petropoulos, who died in the line of duty on September 29th, 2000.
The following interview was recorded several hours after a press conference during which Cst Wynn’s wife, Shelly MacInnis-Wynn, and her sister, Dawn Sephton, spoke about the decision to remove Cst Wynn from life support.
In the interview, Maryanne shares her experience of saying goodbye to her husband, John, when he was in the ICU on life support 14 years ago. The interview conveys the importance of organ donation but is candid about just how difficult this decision is for the organ donor’s families. The interview also discusses the strength, commitment and support of the police community.
