European Adventure Photo Blog #1…

Paris & Athens

“Travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on deep and permanent, in the ideas of the living.”

– Miriam Beard

Here it is MID-OCTOBER!!

Well, well, well…it seems I am finally surfacing after going underground for more than a month! Sorry for the delay in sending out a blog. Emily and I have been busy little travel bees!!

Our epic European adventure got off to an epically HOT start in Paris…and I do mean hot! It was 37 degrees Celsius and humid beyond belief. And our hotel did not have air con! ACK! My bad (I booked that one). We lasted one long, sleepless, sweaty night…and promptly moved to a hotel WITH air con. After that, we were laughin’. Literally.

We had a ball in Paris! This was Em’s first time there and she loved it!!

Here are a few snaps…

Love this shot of the Eiffel Tower!

Neat shot of a sculpture in the Musée d’Orsay

Peeking in the window at one of the beautiful cafe’s in the Musée d’Orsay

A lovely tree-lined street 🙂

After Paris we headed to Athens and stayed at a perfect little VRBO (that Em found)! We visited the Acropolis and were wowed yet again by the Parthenon. And we thoroughly enjoyed visiting the Acropolis Museum again…spent hours there in the air con. Athens was hot – but not nearly as humid as Paris.

Here are some photos…

We were both super excited to be back in Athens again!

MA & Em in front of the Parthenon 🙂

The amazing Parthenon from a different angle…

The Porch of Maidens

Theatre of Dionysus

This is a neat shot taken from the ancient Agora (where people used to live), looking up the Acropolis…you can see how big the Parthenon is!

We loved roaming around the different ruins in Athens!

MA in the writing zone 🙂

After Athens, we headed east to the town of Marathon to stay at a villa with friends for a week. Then we went to the island of Poros…then more island hopping! Wait till you see the next batch of photos!! We have spent nearly 5 weeks in Greece and are now heading to Rome for the Italian chapter of our epic European adventure 🙂

Take care & I hope things are going well with you!

  1. Europe is okay. But my favourite photo: “MA in the writing zone 🙂”

The hobbits of the Shire would be most proud.

So would Dad. He was mostly deaf, but if he hadn’t been, I’m sure he would have also worn ear protection – protection from the world.

Seriously though, this is a blast from my past, and hopefully my future. Keep posting so I can live vicariously through you lovelies!!

  2. Thanks for keeping us updated on your amazing travels. 🥰 Love the pictures too Maryanne, I’m sure they must Bev inspiring your writing ✍️
Looking forward to hearing about your next adventures with ‘Em (can help thinking of you both as “Em n M” the rapper 😂
That’s a “wrap” from me, stay safe 🤗🥰

  3. Ahahahahaha! That is too funny about Emily & I being “Em n M” like the rapper 🙂 Hope you are doing well, Chris!

  4. Oh, I was channeling Dadio today…I went to Franz Kafka’s grave in Prague! You know how much our father preferred to hang out with the dead versus the living. They are so much quieter. No ear protection needed in a cemetery 🙂

You’ll be back in Europe in no time!!
