Second Edition of Wise Owl Wisdom Inspirational Quote Cards Now Available

This Wise Owl Not Always So Wise…
If you are a regular reader of my blog, you may recall the Wise Owl Wisdom Inspirational Quote Cards we launched a few years ago (30 cards in a set, each card with a different quote on the back, and the beautiful owl on the front of each card is a print of a painting done by my niece, Melanie Pope).
People seem to love these cards and they are often our top seller at Christmas gift shows. But here’s the thing: not everyone loved these cards…and I have the gulp-inducing e-mail to prove it.
About six months ago, I received a polite but firm e-mail from the estate of a deceased author who, upon seeing one of our quote card photos on social media, asked that we do NOT use this author’s quotes in any of our quote sets, nor in the on-line marketing of the quote sets. They don’t grant permission to anyone for the use of this author’s quotes.
Oops.
Even though I had just used a few of the author’s quotes in the Wise Owl Wisdom quote set (and in some of our other quote sets) and, of course, attributed his name as the source of the quote, apparently that was still not acceptable from a copyright perspective.
Lesson learned!
So we immediately stopped sharing all photos of quotes (from our quote sets) by authors whose works were published after 1923 (prior to that, all works are part of the public domain so no permission is necessary to use their referenced quote). Then we began the process of replacing the contemporary quotes with quotes by people whose works were published before 1923.
THIS is why there is now a revised edition of the Wise Owl Wisdom quotes! And do you know, I love the new collection of quotes 🙂

It’s the same thing with our other 3 quote sets: Intuitive Insights for Soul-Inspired Living, Potent Prosperity Principles and Life After Loss. We are gradually creating new editions of these quote sets. As these revised versions become available, we’ll let you know.
In the meantime, if you wish to order the original versions, there are still some left in our Etsy store (except for Wise Owl Wisdom – the ones on Etsy are the revised version). The quote sets are $7.95 each (and make great little gifts or stocking stuffers).
