Protecting Those Who Protect You

The John Petropolous Memorial Fund (JPMF) was established in memory of Maryanne Pope’s husband, Cst. John Petropolous of the Calgary Police Service, who passed away in the line of duty in Sept 2000.

John was investigating a break and enter complaint at a warehouse when he stepped through a false ceiling, fell nine feet into the lunchroom below and died of brain injuries. There was no safety railing in place to warn him, or anyone else, of the danger. The complaint turned out to be unfounded; it was a false alarm.

The JPMF is a registered Canadian charity that raises public awareness about workplace safety issues facing emergency responders. Through it’s safety campaigns, the JPMF offers people tangible tips they can implement at work, and on the road, to help ensure everyone gets home safely.
